Code of Conduct

Coaching Code of Conduct

  • A coach's commitment is to improve the performance of the players and the team physically and mentally.
  • Coaches are expected to have good communication with players, parents/guardians to ensure all parties involved understand, support and abide by the playing rules and codes of acceptable conduct.
  • Coaches will treat players, parents, opponents and officials with respect at all times.
  • Throughout the season, coaches will maintain high standards of personal conduct and fair play.
  • Coaches should never be involved in circumstances which are offensive or suggest sexual connotation.
  • Coaches must be enthusiastic and positive. They must ensure they are generous with praise when deserved.
  • Coaches will refrain from the use of all drugs, alcohol and tobacco at all games and practices.
  • Coaches need to provide a high quality soccer program for players within a positive environment/fun atmosphere.

 

Parents/Spectator Code of Conduct

  • Parents will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of their child or the safety of others.
  • Parents will become familiar with the rules of the game.
  • Parents/spectators will refrain from coaching their child or other children from the sidelines during games and practices, unless they are one of the official coaches of the team.
  • Parents will respect the officials and their authority during the game.
  • Parents will not question or confront coaches at the game field, instead waiting 24 hours before calling coaches to discuss any issue.
  • Parents will demand that their children treat officials, coaches, spectators and other players with respect and also teach their children to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
  • Parents will let the coach know if a child will be missing a game or practice.
  • Parents will do their best to be on time for games and practices.
  • Parents/spectators will not encourage any behaviour that would endanger the health and/or wellbeing of the athletes.
  • Parents/spectators will be positive role models for the children and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or other sporting event.
  • Parents/spectators will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player or parent such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
  • Parents will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.

 

Player Code of Conduct

  • Players will obey the laws of the sport of soccer as taught by the coaches.
  • Players will do their best to safeguard the physical health of teammates and opponents and avoid unnecessary rough play.
  • Players will treat opponents, coaches and officials with respect, good manners and common decency at all times.
  • Players will refrain from the use of profane language and violent conduct.
  • Players will attend every practice and game that it is reasonably possible for them to attend and will notify the coach if unable to do so.
  • Players will do their best to listen and learn from their coaches. Players will strive to treat others as they wish to be treated by others.
